City of Quincy Maritime Festival at Marina Bay

The City of Quincy invites residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day weekend at the inaugural Quincy400 Maritime Festival, a free, family-friendly three-day waterfront event at Marina Bay Boardwalk from July 4–6. The festival will feature live entertainment, historic reenactments, schooner tours, a children’s parade, food, and more, celebrating Quincy’s rich maritime history and community spirit. City of Quincy's 75th Annual Flag Day Parade

This year’s parade will step off at 7 p.m. at the corner of Hancock Street and Coddington St. in Quincy Center and head north along Hancock Street, turning onto Merrymount Parkway and wrapping up at Vietnam Veterans Drive and Adams Field. A flag-raising ceremony and musical performance at Pageant Field will follow the completion of the parade. The night will culminate with fireworks over Black’s Creek at approximately 9:00 PM. The parade will feature floats celebrating America 250, specialty units, public safety and veterans’ color guards, a fleet of classic cars, and over 1,000 flag-waving youngsters. This year’s parade marks the 75th anniversary of the parade that carries on the tradition of the Koch Club. Adding to the parade excitement, former Richard J. and Simone N Koch Youth Service Award winners will return to join in this commemorative year. Bands performing include the Quincy/North Quincy Marching Band, Crusaders Senior Corp., North Star Alumni Drum and Bugle, 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle, Conn Hurricanes Drum and Bugle, Branches Steel Band, New Magnolia Jazz Band and the Conn Alumni Drum and Bugle.

The Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation - Honorary Awards Dinner

The Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation will host its Honorary Awards Dinner featuring three recipients and a fundraising component supporting FourBlock, a nonprofit that helps service members transition from the military into meaningful civilian careers. The event will include a cocktail reception, presentation of colors by English High School Junior ROTC, dinner and the award presentation. Proceeds will benefit FourBlock. The Honorary Awards Dinner is a signature event for the HFCU Charitable Foundation that brings together community leaders, veterans’ advocates, and others to celebrate service and support veteran transition programs. HFCU President and CEO Peter Rice will present the Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse II Leadership Award to Major General Gary W. Keefe, adjutant general of the Massachusetts National Guard, for his leadership and service to veterans. The Minuteman Award will be presented to US Army Colonel (Ret.) and former Massachusetts Secretary of Veterans Services Cheryl Lussier Poppe in recognition of her 30-year military career and continued dedication to veterans, including initiatives such as the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program and the Women Veterans Network. The inaugural James T. Brett Community Service Award will be presented to James T. Brett, president and CEO of The New England Council, recognizing his longstanding leadership in advancing economic opportunity, public policy, and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Additional community and veteran leaders will also be in attendance.

City of Quincy Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

The City of Quincy will host its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 25, honoring the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. The procession will begin at Quincy Avenue and proceed to Hancock Street, pausing at United First Parish Church for a wreath-laying ceremony. The parade will then continue along Coddington Street, cross Southern Artery to Sea Street, and conclude at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, where a commemorative ceremony featuring local officials, veterans, and community members will be held in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
